Host FAQ
Pricing guidance, insurance details and what happens when a Guest does not show up.
Pricing your car
How much should I charge per day?
Start by checking similar cars in your city and neighborhood. A good baseline is the local daily rate for your year, make and model, then adjust for demand, season and extras. Many Hosts price 10–15% below traditional rental companies to stay competitive while keeping a strong nightly margin.
Does GoLow set my price?
No. You control the daily rate at all times. You can raise prices for weekends and holidays or lower them during slow periods from your Host dashboard.
How much do I keep after GoLow's fee?
Hosts earn 80% of the base rental rate. GoLow keeps a 20% commission to cover payment processing, platform operations, support and marketing. There are no listing fees or monthly charges.
What about discounts for longer trips?
You can set weekly or monthly discounts in your vehicle settings. Longer trips often lead to higher occupancy and less work per rental.
Insurance and protection
What insurance coverage applies to rentals?
GoLow requires every trip to include liability protection. Guests accept financial responsibility for damage and the deductible as part of the Terms and Conditions at checkout. The Guest's card is authorized for a refundable hold of 20% of the trip base rate (minimum $500, maximum $2,500) to cover the deductible if needed.
Do I need a commercial rental policy?
Personal auto insurance typically does not cover rentals-for-hire. You should contact your own insurer to confirm whether a personal, commercial or peer-to-peer rental policy is appropriate for your situation. GoLow does not provide insurance advice.
What if my car is damaged during a trip?
Document the condition at pickup and return with photos. Report damage through your Host dashboard immediately after the trip ends. The Guest is responsible for the deductible and any applicable liability fee according to the Terms accepted at booking.
Who pays the liability fee?
The Guest pays the liability fee at checkout. It is not a fee you collect or manage as a Host.
Guest no-shows
What happens if a Guest does not show up?
If the Guest does not arrive for the scheduled pickup and has not canceled, mark the trip as a no-show in your Host dashboard after the pickup window has passed. The booking is handled according to our cancellation policy.
Do I still get paid if a Guest does not show up?
If the Guest fails to show up and did not cancel in time, you generally keep the trip payment. This protects your time and blocked calendar. Refunds are only issued when the Guest cancels within the allowed window or when a documented platform error occurred.
How do I report a no-show?
Go to your Host dashboard, open the reservation, and use the 'Report no-show' button. Include any messages, call logs or photos that support the report. Our support team may reach out if additional details are needed.
Can I give the Guest a grace period?
Yes, many Hosts wait 30–60 minutes before marking a no-show. Use your judgment and communicate through the platform so there is a record of the attempt. Once you report the no-show, the platform processes the outcome automatically.
